Role: Junior Communications EngineerReporting to: IT Engineering LeadBased: Onsite / London Job PurposeTo provide event IT services to clients, guests and stakeholders as the Junior Communications Engineer, installing CAT5e cabling and services for all connectivity and technology service requirements both physical and wireless. Providing 1st line technical support to clients throughout live events. Person Specification<ul><li>The Junior Communications Engineer should be customer focused.</li><li>Smart bearing in appearance.</li><li>Ability to work as part of a team.</li><li>Flexibility with working hours.</li><li>Punctuality.</li><li>Able to work weekends and unsociable hours at some times.</li></ul> Key Responsibilities<ul><li>As Junior Communications Engineer, be the technical lead for an event installation and present key information for review at pre-event meetings.</li><li>Mark-up event floor plans with cabling and Wi-Fi requirements.</li><li>Install event CAT5e cabling, including termination, jumping &amp; testing.</li><li>Provide equipment as ordered (i.e. hubs, access points, patch leads, etc).</li><li>Provide port allocation information to the network team.</li></ul> Skills &amp; Experience<ul><li>Ideally the Junior Communications Engineer will have at least 1 years' experience in a similar role.</li><li>Cabling and terminating of CAT5e.</li><li>Cable patching.</li><li>Wireless technologies awareness.</li><li>Excellent customer service skills and creative problem solving.</li><li>Health and Safety awareness.</li><li>IPAF license (Preferable but not essential).</li></ul> Event Support<ul><li>Provide data connectivity assistance and first line support throughout tenancy period.</li><li>Provide support for telephone services throughout the tenancy period.</li><li>Recording, communicating, and escalating all appropriate tickets.</li><li>Post Event</li><li>Recover any equipment after event.</li><li>Remove all voice and data cabling from exhibition floors and Organisers offices.</li><li>Attend post-event debriefs.</li></ul> General<ul><li>Help colleagues and management where necessary; the Junior Communications Engineer is expected to be a flexible, collaborative member of the team.</li><li>Ensure that all work areas/offices are always kept in order.</li><li>Ensure that all Health &amp; Safety regulations are followed.</li><li>Ensure that all equipment used complies with the Company's Health and Safety standards.</li></ul> A successful applicant may be required to complete a DBS Check prior to working in the business.
