The Role
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer based within commuting distance of Central London. This is a predominantly client-facing position, providing onsite technical support across a diverse range of environments.
You will work directly with customers to deliver hands-on infrastructure support across desktop, server, networking, and cloud platforms. The role requires strong troubleshooting capability, proactive problem-solving skills, and the confidence to operate independently on client sites.
This is a fully field-based role with regular travel to customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite technical support across multiple client environments
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and infrastructure issues
- Support cloud and on-premise systems, ensuring stability and security
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders
- Accurately document work completed and maintain system records
- Escalate issues appropriately where required
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous technical improvement
- Represent the company professionally while on client premises
You must have:
- Previous experience within an MSP or IT solutions provider environment (2 years' experience required)
- Proven experience working as a Field Engineer across multiple client sites
- Strong troubleshooting ability across complex IT infrastructures
- Comfortable working independently and managing priorities in fast-paced environments
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A genuine interest in technology and continuous learning
Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in a 2nd Line / Infrastructure Support role
- At least 1 year in a field-based engineering position
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft 365 / Office 365 administration (cloud-hosted environments)
- Windows Server and Microsoft Exchange administration
- Active Directory management
- Virtualisation technologies
- Networking fundamentals (LAN, WAN, VPN, Wireless)
- Backup technologies including Veeam and cloud-based solutions
- Endpoint hardware/software diagnostics
- Antivirus and security solutions
