We are representing a well established financial services organisation seeking a 3rd Line IT Systems Support Engineer to join its internal IT team.
This is an office based role split across two Oxfordshire locations, with occasional travel to other sites as required. You will join a small, collaborative IT team supporting users across the entire business.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide second and third line technical support, acting as a key escalation point for complex issues. The position involves a combination of deskside, remote and telephone support, alongside involvement in infrastructure improvements and small project work.
You will also liaise with third party suppliers and contribute to the ongoing development of IT systems to ensure they remain secure, efficient and aligned with business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver second and third line support for incidents, service requests and technical issues
- Act as an escalation point for more complex problems
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud environments
- Install, configure and maintain hardware, software, servers and networks
- Manage printers, desktops, laptops and related infrastructure
- Work closely with senior IT colleagues on recurring or strategic issues
- Assist with small infrastructure and systems projects
- Manage relationships with external IT suppliers
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery
- Provide occasional out of hours support when required
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and regulatory standards
About You
- Proven experience in a 2nd and 3rd line IT support role
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and Windows desktop environments
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Understanding of networking, firewalls, virtualisation technologies and server infrastructure
- Experience supporting end user hardware and business systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to support stakeholders at all levels
- Organised, methodical and comfortable working in a small team environment
- Experience within financial services would be advantageous
